Control Tower
admin post
5/28/3358 0510 hours
The space port was five miles away from where Ensign Hobbar had destroyed the fuel depot. It wasn't hard if it was a regular day without a blizzard but it was still night time. The sun wouldn't be up until three hours from now so for now they'd be fighting in the dark. As the platoon moved closer they heard the battle begin off in the distance. The anti aircraft and orbital guns had been firing continously but now they were being silenced as Kilo Company moved in for the kill. Small arms fire was also heard.
Silva looked at his map as they moved towards the space port. The space port had been built twenty years ago but according to sat reports it had been upgraded, it featured eight hangers, numbers of store houses, three barracks and a control tower. The entire port was surrounded by a mesh gate which shouldn't be too hard to get open. Ensign Hobbar put up a hand and everyone stopped. He looked at the space port. The good news was that the defences were being hit everywhere so it wouldn't be to well guarded. There was a mesh fence alright which had barbed wire on top. He didn't see any ARM soldiers at the moment outside. The control tower had it's panels shut and it was covered in snow. No one was outside
"Ok platoon we have fifty yards to cross, we'll get into the gate. As soon as we are in the gate we'll find a door that leads to the tower. Move out."
The platoon moved across the field without any resistance. Silva cut the gate open with a pair of bolt cutters. Lining up by the doorway to the control tower, Hobbar opened it very carefully. The hallway was very small and they could only go single file. Up ahead it spilt off in two directions. The water from their boots followed them inside. "First right, second left. We'll meet up at the top." Both squads split up. First squad had to take a stairway to reach the next level while second crammed into a elevator.

As first climbed up the stairs, Hobbar and second squad crammed into a elevator some how. With all their gear inside it felt like they couldn't move. "Silva take the next floor, we'll take the floor above." Ensign Hobbar said as the elevator doors closed. For some reason elevator music came on, it felt very strange to hear it. "Almost like old times." he said remembering a memory.
The elevator passed one floor and it stopped and opened on the next one above it. The doors opened and he was out first, scanning the hallway he saw that both ends of the hallway went into the same direction, in other words it was a large square if one person went one way and another the other way they would meet on the far side. "Mitchell with me, Knight and Godfred you go left." Ensign Hobbar and Mitchell went right, as they turned the corner they saw two doors one on either side of the hall not directly across from each other. Hobbar moved to the right door and opened it. As the door opened gunfire poured out of the room. Hobbar took a look inside it looked like some sort of office a very large office. There were three men behind a turned over desk firing back.
Kneeling down beside the door, he tossed a grenade into the room. It exploded killing all three of the gunmen. Him and mitchell went into the room to explore the rest of it.
Godfred and Knight took the other end of the hallway, there was only one door on their side. It was slightly opened...with bloody foot prints leading to the door, the door knob also had blood on it.
"Christ I hate stairs." Silva said as they climbed the stairs. Coming to the top as he opened the door, he gave a hand signal to them, pointing to Kennedy he told him to stay with Silva, and then gave another sign to Nguyen and Vinigin to go right. The layout was the same as Ensign Hobbar had a floor above him although Jorge expected it.
As Jorge and Kennedy went their way, a grenade was thrown their way. "GRENADE!" Jorge screamed and ran back towards the stair case. It exploded as the two ran to the door of the stair case. The hallway shook and dust was everywhere. "Nguyen Vini, take your side of the hallway. We'll take ours." Jorge went back to the original position that he was at before the grenade exploded. Looking over the corner he saw four figures in full battle dress firing at where he was. Returning fire, he wounded one in the leg and another in the chest area. Nguyen and Vinigin however only had two gunmen on their side of the hallway.

Cold and dark! That seemed to be the best way to describe this place and it reminded Myra of bootcamp. It was exactly the same in fact. Staying up late at night walking far away to attack some target without really knowing why. At least that was how it felt to Myra. But it wasn’t like bootcamp. In bootcamp there was the constant knowledge that no matter how tired one would be or how cold it would get, eventually they would end up back at base and they could forget whatever had been going on at the exercise. Here they wouldn’t get back until the objective was taken and what was even worse, the enemies didn’t fire blanks but live rounds intending to kill.
As the platoon had reached a gate, Myra kneeled down while the gate was breached. She had hoped that it would at least take a moment so that she could let her feet rest at least a few minutes but the gate soon opened and the unit moved across an open field. They all reached the control tower and after one of the officers had barked out a few orders they entered it. Myra was still too new to really know anyone and she was terrible with names so she just listened and followed those with her squad colours on.
Myra was walking as the last person in the column as they ascended the staircase. Her mind was far from focused on the tower or whatever might be lurking on top, her mind was more focused around when this mission was over and she could get out of her armour. There was a reason why she was in the army and it wasn’t to fight. However the military still hadn’t given her, her medical degree. Myra hadn’t even really paid attention to the fact that the staircase had been swapped out with hallway. Her mind did however came back in the moment as someone just yelled out grenade! Instinctively she took a few steps back but the blast still knocked her to the ground. Suddenly staring at the ceiling, Myra felt wide awake and definitely shocked. As the hallway became lit up with gunfire going both ways, Myra rolled in behind a corner to be in cover from the enemy fire.

Nguyen got out a gernade and threw it at the gunmen. The gernade exploded killing the two gun men. They then moved up and searched the rooms that were on their side of the hall. Jorge was still behind his wall of cover. Instead of throwing a gernade, he fired a round into one who had his leg shot eariler. The round hit him square in the chest.
The other gunmen suddenly dropped their weapons. "We surrender!" one of them shouted. Jorge and Kennedy went to them weapons drawn. Kennedy tied their hands together while Jorge tied their feet. "Silva where the hell are you? The rest of the company has finished destroying the anti air defences and are now taking part in the attack on the airfield. We're supposed to have this tower secure within fifteen minutes, the navy is gonna start sending down supplies" Ensign Hobbar said over the comm.
"We just finished down here Ensign. This level is clear, we have prisoners as well. We'll meet you at the top." he said. "Ok people we're gonna help the Ensign take the control room of this tower."
Getting onto the stairs wasn't all that difficult. As he opened the door, he saw that Ensign Hobbar had his squad into a breaching posistion. Three dead bodies were inside the hallway "Ok we breach this door and kill everyone inside. Ready?" Ensign Hobbar asked the Sergeant.
"Ready." Jorge said. A charge was placed on the control room door and it exploded. The door had opened.
The room was very large and there were at least twenty people inside it manning consoles. There were four consoles in the middle of the room the rest were by the glass...which had the shutters on. They must of been either not paying attention to their surroundings or they just decided to continue with their work.
The control room was not full of enemey troops as Hobbar had thought, just flight control officers. "FREEZE! HANDS IN THE AIR!" Hobbar shouted through his mic. "SDC SDC DO NOT MOVE. DO NOT MOVE PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD!" Silva shouted a the top of his lungs.
Hobbar went over to one of the operators and started to tie his hands. "You move and you'll be sorry. " he told the man. "Tie em up." he said. "Alright you heard him, tie em up. Someone get those shutters up." Silva said

[Misfit, Misfit, this is Pegasus, what's your status?]
"Pegasus, Pegasus, this is Misfit! I am going trough pre-flight now, over"
[Rodger that Misfit. Remember that you have limited fuel on this one, get in, drop your supplies and get back, how copy?]
"Solid copy Pegasus, out"
[Good luck, and godspeed Misfit, don't be late for dinner! Pegasus out!"
By now John had completed the pre-flight check. He was ready to launch. Only seconds later he was flying trough space, avoiding other planes and ships.
The flight towards the upper atmosphere only lasted a few minutes, and once he reached it, John engaged the anti-burn system which prevents his "Navaho" from being burned up like a meteorite.
"Joker, calculate ETA please" John said over the radio, talking to his co-pilot
"Rodger that Ghost," he checked the navcomp and continued "ETA is twenty minutes mate"
"Allrighty, we should have a visual in about eighteen minutes then"
About eighteen minutes later, they had a visual on the airfield, but weren't able to see any traffic or anyone for that part.
"this is Misfit calling any friendlies at Spaceport Cobra, over"
John tried to make contact to any friendlies there, and finally after a few minutes made contact with Pegasus
"Pegasus, Pegasus, this is Misfit, do you read me, over"
[This is Pegasus, send traffic, over]
" I am unable to make contact with friendlies at Spaceport Cobra, break. interrogative, what should I do? I'm ten mikes 'til bingo fuel, and then thirty mikes 'til i'm completely empty, how copy?"
[solid copy misfit, keep circling the spaceport for now, out]
what kind of an answer is that? why would he want to send me to my death? I'll circle around for now, but will RTB when I'm out.
"Anyone present at Spaceport Cobra!? This is Misfit, I am one mike until bingo fuel! I need to land and unload the supplies or I'm not gonna make it back! does anyone copy!?"

The shutters went up and the sun just started to come over the horizon. It was beautiful...that is unless anyone had noticed it. "Captain, we've secured the control tower." Ensign Hobbar said over the radio. "Excellent work, the rest of the space port is under our contorol the flyboys will be coming in soon. Now I need you to...."
Tying up the last of the enemy personal, Silva heard a radio chatter on one of the consoles. It sounded like one of the pilots. He got on the radio right away. "Misfit, Space Port Cobera is under control of friendly personal you may land now." he said. He had no idea what he was doing, he never landed a shuttle before. "You'll have to find yourself a parking space on your own, I'm just a trooper." he said.
As the platoon finished up at the control tower, Ensign Hobbar got everyone's attention. "Alright! A bird got shot down on the way in, and the company is gonna go and rescue some Special Security troops. Their about ten clicks away from Space Port Walker. Assemble at hanger twenty four!"
The platoon left to get down to the Hanger where the rest of the company would be. As they left some other troopers from another company rounded up the prisoners.

"Thank you cobra, I'm parking her in front of that hangar over there, if you could send some troopers to unload my supplies"
"Pegasus, Pegagus, this is Misfit, come in"
[this is Pegasus, send traffic, over]
"I am landing the bird, and will RTB after we've finished unloading, over"
[That's a negative Misfit, once you are done, you will refuel and fly those troopers to the downed bird. A fueling bird is already on it's way, ETA twenty mikes]
"Rodger Pegasus, Misfit out"
