Captain Miller waited as the last of them showed up. Many of the people here were veterans of the battles with the ARM and that made it even better. Because for all intents and purposes, the ARM was finished. Once that planet was wiped clean by the Special Security Force then could a proper colony be established.
"Any chance we'll be celebrating our victory on dirt this time?" Private Sanchez said. Captain Miller smiled. "What you don't like being in space?Alright people." he said a little louder as the last of his company made it to the briefing. The lights went dark and a large holographic projection of twin systems came to light. One was labeled Indra and the other was labeled Glaucus. "As you are well aware, after 4th Fleet is currently en route to the Indra System. Fortunately the Special Security 2nd Fleet is already inside the Indra System. And I have some good news about our invasion of Sisyphus. We got the latest intelligence about enemy troop movements within our sector." he said with a smile on his face and it was true.
The Office of Naval Intelligence or ONI for short had many spied within the ARM ranks and they got excellent intelligence on the ARM military. That included the space borne units too which was good. It turned out that the forts that had everyone worried were abandoned and were being used to actually repair the local ARM fleet. the other good news was that there were only 15 ARM capital ships. However the ground forces were going to be tough to crack, they mostly had anti air capabilities and infantry. The only good news was that they had very little armor, and this included scout units to heavy tanks.
"We got updated Intel on our target. The capital or should I say defacto capital city of Azua. Azua is one of the heaviest guarded cities on the planet. Now unlike the official military, we're going to be inserted via dropship 4 clicks from the outskirts of the city. Our target." He said and the hologram then showed a heavily detailed map of the city.
"Is to knock out three anti air defense cannons. We will be inserted from the north, the first cannon is on the outskirts of the city near a small what we think is a warehouse. It is lightly guarded with about fifteen to twenty ARM troopers guarding it. They have two machine gun emplacements around the cannon , and to make matters a little worse it's inside a trench. The warehouse is actually next to it. We have to take out this first, and secure the warehouse."
He said and the hologram moved to a small neighborhood. "Our next target is in the middle of the street of a neighborhood. The ARM troopers however decided to booby trap the local houses and the street. There aren't any reports of a enemy presence. Once that cannon is taken out we can then move in towards the bridge which holds the last anti air cannon in our sector. The Bridge is rigged to blow on either side and is heavily guarded. Our company will assault the east end while Foxtrot company assaults the west. We will then proceed to disarm the charges and then destroy the anti air cannon. "
He said and couldn't believe it he forgot. "I'm sorry about not mentioning this earlier, but the planet on a warm day is ten degrees Fahrenheit so you'll want to be extremely warm. Now after our sector is clear of anti air, command wants us to secure a vehicle depot five miles to the north of us. We'll get support from Air to help us on that. Once this is secure we'll wait for word from Echo Company for them to of secured the city center. Any questions?" he said.
