Reed knew that it was only a matter of time before Zhour lost at the game. The two had been playing chess for the past two hours, this was their third game. And at the moment both were tied. Reed brought out his holographic chess set which had holograms of the chess pieces. The pieces were all of a Roman Empire set. Pawns were roman skirmishers, Rooks were a legionnaire, Knights were a cavalryman, bishops were a priest, and the king and queen were a Emperor and Empress respectively. He’d gotten it a few birthdays ago and had always taken it with him. He rarely was able to use it, but when he did it was often fun. “Knight to E8.” Reed said. Zhout only had two pawns, his king, queen and one knight. Reed had both of his knights, four pawns, a rooke and both his king and queen. The Knight piece then moved to where the King was and got off the horse before stabbing the King.
Zhour only smiled and said. “Alright I’ll concede this time, besides you only wanted to kill time because somebody beat you last time!” he raised his voice a little and looked in Huxley’s direction. “Fair enough my friend fair enough but I do like to win.” The holographic images then disappeared as he shut off the board. The pieces were small round metallic objects and he began to pick them up. “Hey maybe we’ll know what happened at that colony. You hear about that Lieutenant from Second Platoon? Scuttle butt is he was asked by Captain Jones to do some digging on that S.S. building.” He said. Zhour then shook his head. “Careful what you hear Christopher, careful. Half of what you hear is made up. And besides all that we really know is not that much. It wouldn’t surprise me if the suit lied to us.” He said referring to Gerry Black, the Human Corporation representative.
“Look who cares what goes on and who says what. All that really matters is doing your damned job when the time comes don’t forget that.”
