One thing about the U.C.R is it's collection of political parties. Many of these parties have existed in one form or another since the founding of the Republic.
Colonial Unionists- The Colonial Unionist party advocates for a larger centralized government and are strongly anti human corporation. They see the need for large government due to the civil war which was started by multiple corporations trying to upsurp the Republic. The only way to control Human Corporation is to have tighter regulations on it...even if it means having higher taxes. Government control on the outer colonies is a must and try to lessen freedoms on the outer colonial governments when they can. Very popular in the inner colonies. Favor military intervention.
Democratic Liberals- The Democratic Liberal party also advocates on large government. Colonies should obey the government no matter what. They also wish to increase infrastructure on the outer colonies, which sees them having most of the support in those colonies. However they are not popular on Earth nor it's inner colonies due to the economic policy of focusing on the outer colonies. Having looser control on Human Corporation is also a top priority, as long as it helps the economy the that is all that matters. Extremely anti military.
United Republicans- The United Republican Party is a group that advocates for smaller government and would allow more freedoms for colonies when they can. Allowing local planets to handle their own problems allows a lesser burden on the Republican economy.They also advocate for financial regulation especially with regards to Human Corporation. The reason behind this party backing financial regulation was due to the colonial bubble in the mid to late 2300's which saw the economy almost collapse due to loose regulation. They also advocate for lower taxes. anti military
Solarian Conservatives- The Solarian Conservative parties is perhaps one of the oldest parties around. They advocate for higher taxes for those living on the outer colonies and less on the inner colonies. Economics are one of their main focus, Human Corporation shouldn't be regulated at all. The Solarian Conservatives shrink the government when they come into power but as noted above all of them are focused on the economic benefits of the outer colonies. Strongly pro military.
Outer Colonial Party- The Outer Colonial Party is in favor of a smaller government. An ease of taxes on the outer colonies and less spending on defense for the inner colonies is another priority. However they are strong pro militarists due to the constant out breaks of incidents. A focus on the standard of living on the outer colonies such as the different economic classes, healthcare and education. Strong pro military
