Name:Kyle Guerra
Rank:Wing Commander
Assignment:Starfury Pilot,
Section:Flight Commander, Flight One
Age: 21
Height:5'10"
Weight:150 lbs.
Years of Service:None
Injuries Received in the line of Duty:None
Character's Kit:
Flight Suit
M1 Personal Defense Weapon
A22 Pilot's Armor
Frame:Kyle is a fairly average 21 year old Hispanic male with average height and weight. He has brown hair and brown eyes and his body is well toned. Kyle always makes sure that his uniform is perfectly in order, as he has a fierce loyalty to the UCHDF and takes pride in the uniform that he wears. Despite this, he always has a relaxed posture when not standing at attention, making him seem extremely laid back.
Personality: Kyle is a very friendly person, he's always willing to provide assistance when he can. He's also very curious and isn't afraid of asking questions about things he doesn't know. Although he's not the most physically talented member of the Honored Brothers, he's very intelligent and is just as proficient working with cyber-warfare as he is with flying his Starfury. Kyle is very dedicated to his fellow servicemen and the military in general. He joined out of a sense of duty and in order to be a part of the tradition of service. Although he'd never admit it, the thing he desires most is a strong bond with the members of his unit. Finally, one of the key parts of Kyle's personality is his integrity. When he was just a kid, his father told him that he should always keep his word, as it's much harder to regain somebody's trust. Because of that, Kyle has always made it a priority to accomplish everything that he commits to doing and the people who know him know that he can be counted on to do whatever he can do to the absolute best of his abilities, no matter what the cost is to him. He will always put the team before himself.
History: Arcturus, Alpha Centauri. That was the only home that Kyle had ever known. Born on March 13, 3337 to Michael Guerra, a Naval Engineer, and Veronica Guerra, a doctor, Kyle and his twin brother Jonathan lived on a military base. Although Jonathan was more physically intimidating than Kyle, Kyle had the smarts to get himself out of any situation he was stuck in. Throughout his education, Kyle scored high on tests, giving him many different options to choose from for a career. When his brother enlisted in the army before graduating high school, Kyle refused, wanting to think about his options a bit more. Due to his academic success, he graduated at the age of 17 and took a spot at the Military Academy on Arcturus in order to receive a commission as an officer, however, and although he took classes focused on computers, there was something about the allure of flying in space that drew him in.
During his time at basic training before his enrollment in the Academy, Kyle realized that he would actually have to push himself to make it. Because of his natural intelligence, he had rarely been forced to push himself until this point and it was something that he learned quickly after being forced to do repeated punishments for not giving it his best, even though he wasn't the last one. The Drill Sergeant told him that if he didn't do his best, not only was he not reaching his full potential but he would also be allowing people to die that he could otherwise save. This opened his eyes and from that time onward he made it a priority to do his absolute best. He passed basic training in the top quarter of his group of trainees; not the best but certainly not the worst.
After basic training, Kyle went on to the Academy, where he excelled in his computer programming classes. Despite this, he felt the desire to become a Starfury pilot. He wanted the freedom of flying his own fighter in space and so he signed up for flight school. At flight school, he discovered that he had a natural talent as a pilot and he loved it. His simulator scores were the top in his class and because of this, he was allowed to pick the unit that he would serve with. He remembered his dad mentioning the best group of military forces in the UCHDF, the 32nd Honored Brothers, and so he sent in his application, which included both his superb flying skills and his above-average cyberwarfare skills.
Sample Roleplay:
As Kyle flew through space, he observed the convoy of Skylark transports that he was escorting. Supposedly, there had been a number of convoys that had gone missing while on route to Rahdron and now the UCR had decided to send a Starfury squadron to check it out. We're only a few hours away from the warp point to the Merriwater system and so far there's been no sign of anything unusual. As he gazed out towards the sun of the system they were in, he thought he saw a slight disturbance.
[Bravo Squadron this is Bravo Lead. Pull into wedge formation, over.]
[Bravo Lead this is Bravo Two. Solid copy; Pulling into formation, over.]
[Bravo Three pulling into formation, over.]
[This is Bravo Four, solid copy over.]
[Bravo Lead this is Bravo Five. Forming on your wing. Did you see something, over?]
[Not sure Bravo Five, I've got a bad feeling. Better to be safe than sorry, over.]
[Bravo Lead this is Bravo Three. Aren't we leaving the transports more open to attack if we're not spread out to defend them, over?]
[If there's hostile forces in this area, they're going to be using the sun as cover so we can't see them until they hit us. If we're spread out, we won't be able to reach each other in time to help and that makes the squadron weaker. Just keep your eyes on the sun, over.]
[Solid copy Lead, Bravo Three out.]
A wedge formation would give them the upper hand in a battle against any hostile fighters that attacked the convoy. As Kyle maneuvered to the far side of the transports with his squadron, he felt a sense of guilt. By doing this, he was using the convoy as bait by making it appear undefended. He boosted his scanner's sensitivity, hoping he might get at least some advance warning before an attack. After a few minutes passed, his scanner picked up a faint signal coming from the direction of the sun.
[Bravo Squadron, this is Bravo Lead. Possible hostile contacts approaching out of the sun. Estimated time until contact, three mikes. Prepare to engage, over.]
[Bravo Squadron ready to engage on your mark, over.]
Kyle set his countdown for ninety seconds and powered up his weapons systems. The blips on his scanner were still incredibly faint, but definitely approaching the convoy rapidly. They must be using the least amount of power possible, he thought with a hint of admiration. When the timer hit zero, Kyle took a deep breath to calm himself.
[Bravo Squadron this is Bravo Lead, engage, out.]
Kyle shot out from behind the transport, the rest of Bravo Squadron behind him in a wedge formation. As they turned to face the sun, Kyle spotted a group of five interceptors closing in fast.
[Looks like we each have ourselves an interceptor to take care of. Stay in wedge formation they get behind us, over.]
As the squadron sped towards the nearest interceptor, the two outside members began to shoot a steady stream of plasma towards it. As it rolled out of the way of their fire, Kyle blasted it with his own cannons, destroying the fighter. As they did so, however, two of the enemy interceptors sped past them, heading towards the transports. Just like they had practiced, Bravo Fours and Bravo Five split off and headed after them. Kyle continued on his course towards the remaining two interceptors, but this time they were ready. After avoiding his initial salvo of plasma, the ships split off and went to each side of the remaining wedge.
[Separate and go after those interceptors. We're in a good old-fashioned dogfight now, over.]
[Copy that, sir. Out.]
Kyle looped around to get one of the interceptors in his crosshairs. As he did so, the other interceptor got behind him and let loose a burst of plasma that barely missed his wing.
[Bravo Lead you've got a bogey on your six. I've got him, over.]
As Kyle rolled his fighter to avoid the next round of plasma, his scanners indicated an explosion behind him. This last interceptor was no rookie though, and it had circled around behind Bravo Three. It let out a volley of plasma which burned right through one of the wings of the Starfury, sending it into a spiral.
[This is Bravo Three, I'm hit!]
Kyle immediately locked onto the out of control fighter and sent a quick burst of plasma towards it... and broke off a wing on the other side of the ship. This stabilized the fighter's path and Bravo Three slowly spun his ship around to head back towards the convoy. While Kyle was doing this however, the interceptor had gotten on his tail and began to let out a stream of plasma. Kyle immediately went through every evasive maneuver that he knew but this pilot was good and stayed behind him the whole time. Just as the bursts of plasma began to walk in on his ship, the interceptor exploded with Bravo Two coming out of the blast.
[All enemy interceptors neutralized Bravo Lead. Mission accomplished, over.
[Affirmative Bravo Squadron, mission accomplished.]
With that, Kyle reached over and pressed a button underneath his seat. Immediately, the cockpit darkened and the viewing window turned black. Kyle sat up as the simulator opened up and looked around at the other members of the mission as they got out of their own simulators. "Well done Guerra," said a voice from the doorway to the simulator room. As Kyle looked over, he saw the man in charge of his simulator training. "That's one of the best runs of that simulation that I've ever seen. You're on your way to becoming a real squadron leader." Kyle looked at him very seriously and pulled off a crisp salute, but inside he was grinning to himself.
