Hi, I'm a guest and no one is around.

How Do I join?

If you do not want to be a guest you have to create a proboards account. Once you do then you are able to post on the board here. You can also have multiple accounts we allow you to have multiple characters if you wish. Your display name should be the name of your character, that way we know who you play as. You cannot post unless you have an account with proboards.

After you read the rules and created an account, you then have the option of deciding what you wanna be. Do you want to be a Engineer highly trained in electronics or do you want to be a pilot who flies people to their destination. Or do you want to be a civilian?

Note that we strongly urge your character to be born out of the Solar System. It is not a rule you can make your character of been born on Mars but we'd like our characters to be born off of Earth. The Systems and Planets can be found here

How do I Role Play!?

Well, first off, role playing is like writing a book...but with other people, or...that's how I like to explain it. We work together to act out something using our words!

I'm lost, where do I post?

We have 2 RP methods here on Honored Brothers:
a.) Off Mission - on off mission RP boards, on the ship, in a base, on leave missions, RPing is player driven, you can decide to participate in any of the threads created by the staff, or create your own threads to RP with certain individuals. Like most other RP sites, you can have an open thread, inviting any one to join in, or a closed thread involving any amount of other players/characters.

b.) On Mission - on mission RP boards, the RP is admin driven/player driven. The Admins will create a scene in which you the player have to go through, such as a small house or a courtyard. If a admin posts multiple enemies this means that there is only that number of enemies, the player can't add any enemies. However it's up to the player to see how the situation will be played out even though the end mission will be what the admin wanted. In other words if you go into a house with two bad guys, and decide to wound one but kill the other, the mission will end the same with the platoon leaving the area

Wait, so I can't make enemies?

Yes, and No. If the admins make an Admin, mission driving post, we will usually include the amount of enemy forces in the area immediate to our own. You may engage those enemies at will. You cannot magically spawn enemies for the sake of shooting something. the admin will dictate what the enemy is doing, if they are inside a trench for instance the player cannot post that another set of enemies showed up with a tank off to the left. That is not allowed. You can however post that the enemies got out of the trench and started to shoot at you, that is allowed.

What's the Rule on Killing?

You have free reign on killing the enemy. However remember please that the enemy aren't a bunch of idiots with a weapon, these are very highly trained and lethal bad guys with guns and want to kill you. If it seems like you are killing too many enemies and not being pinned down, or wounded then the admin will step in and wound you. This is only because we don't want characters that can stand up to millions of baddies and come out shining.

My class is a civilian what can I do

This depends as to what you chose. Civilans can have their own storylines or they can if they so choose ask an admin to roleplay with them. The admin can also suggest plot ideas for the civilian. Civilians can be on the frontlines (if the planet or area is being invaded or attacked) but cannot say be with the military all the time. The admins will have things for you to do, after all you have an entire Star Nation that exists with billions of people! Our admins will help you in anyway they can.

What kind of character can I make?

Our RP is trying to focus on an Elite group of soldiers part of the Expeditionary Corps called the Special Drop Corps. Our specific unit is called the Honored Brothers, we are an elite special forces group.

We want a mix of basic infantrymen, engineer specialities, marksmen, medics, heavy weapons specialists, and many more Military Specialities.

On top of our ground pounders, we are offering a second, independent group of aviators to fly either VTOL (think helicopters) or Fixed Wing Fighter Planes

Can I make a female Character?

Yes you may! In this storyline, females have been accepted into frontline infantry units. We only ask you don't stick to super cliché macho women, try to mix it up a little bit.

Cool! Can I have SUPER UBER GUNS?!

The real military have standard issued weapons for a reason: supply, training, storage. I don't need to go into detail, but having everyone use a standard issued weapon is just better for logistics. However, you are allowed to customize your weapons with attachments ie. weapon sights, laser targeters, flashlights, grips, paint, etc. so long as you don't go overboard.

Okay, well, what rank will my character be?
Most new members joining the forum will be approved in the lowest 3 Pay Grades: Private, Private First Class, or Lance Corporal. Don't take it personally, but we prefer to offer members who are veterans to the board and show that they are capable leadership positions first. Also, take into account, there are only a certain number of open NCO and leader slots, as the forum grows, senior members will be offered higher ranks and positions.

The exception to this rule is Pilots, all pilot characters will be approved with Officer Commissions, VTOL pilots and Fighter Pilots will likely be approved as 2nd. Lieutenant at the least.

In both categories, the rank itself depends on the bio, the more fleshed out bios will be rewarded with higher ranks. We make the effort to be realistic with our characters and award ranks based on the information included in a character bio.

Sweet, then I'll make my guy have 20 years experience.

NO! We will simply deny you and tell you to start over if you try to pull that off. Though we will try to match rank with service years appropriately, we have enough leadership spots and will not give new comers high ranks because they structure their character apps a certain way.

A note on this point, we also WILL NOT take SUPER HERO/"Famous" characters. Our characters are not super troopers who earned the Medal Of Honor and then go around being super Moto and "just like everyone else". You may have your character be exemplary, but in no way shall he be "The best at everything"

Currently we do not allow any Drop Corps characters who have served more then 7 years whereof maximum 2 of those 7 years can be in the drop corps. Where for the pilots a maximum of 10 is allowed.

WTF DUDE! Why'd you hurt my character

In most instances, this won't happen unless the role player is becoming free of wounds. For example if you run into a machine gun nest and not get hit that won't be accepted, you will have to wound yourself. However some situations you won't be able to control which will require the admin has to make a few wounds on troopers, if for example the dropship caught on fire some of the troopers would have trouble breathing (it won't be a serious wound but it will be a wound.)
