Name: Alexander Vasquez
Callsign: Vaio
Rank: Corporal
Assignment: Primarily Independent Sniper, Temporary Designated Marksman for Drop Corp.
Section: Sniper Team 1
Age: 24
Height: 6'3
Weight: 254
Years of Service: 6 Years; 1 DROP CORP
Injuries Received:
- His right side sustained a broken hand, wrist and fractured forearm from trying to soften his fall from a blast that knocked him from his feet. During the same instance he also sustained shrapnel wounds from his legs up to his arms - the most serious being a puncture wound that lacerated his left kidney.
Character's Kit:
Independent Sniper -
M58A2 Anti-Matérie Rifle
M1 PDW
A23 Recon Armor, Adorned with Ghillie
Squad Designated Markman -
M50A2 Sniper Weapon System
M1 PDW
A23 Recon Armor
Frame: For a sniper, he could be considered 'big' by a few while others may mistake him for a demolitions expert. Alexander is broad shouldered and has the base of a lineman from the old American Football. However, despite being stout he is as capable as any when it comes to being agile or fast. He stands at a decent six foot three and weighs approximately two hundred and fifty pounds. His face is rugid, typically showing off a 5 o'clock shadow. His hair is dark and shaved with a number one, always. His eyes are a dull hazel.
Alexander is always a nice dress. He never wears anything torn, stained or otherwise distasteful. His shirts are typically tight and colored by the black to white and any shade in between spectrum. His pants however are always loose with deep pockets. He takes pride in the way he looks and he lets it show.
Personality: Honesty and Trust. The biggest core elements that build a team. These two simple values are what build up Alexander. They are what makes a unit strong, and what makes a Sniper and his Spotter capable of creating the red mist. Some may say Alex is far too trusting. However, they will also say he is one of the most trustworthy people that side of the Galaxy. Always to do as he says he will. If you make a request of him and he accepts that request, you can guarantee it to be done every time.
Never a quitter. Alexander always strives to become better if he succeeds, to overcome when he fails. Always taking every loss in stride, only to come back harder the next time around. A life lesson taught to him by his Father. Even though he takes everything in his job seriously, he is never a kill-joy. He is a man of smiles. His laugh is known to many and is easily recognizable among a crowd. There is no shell to this man, no reserve. Nothing he hides behind. What you see is what you get. However, as with almost all people he has a serious side. Much like his Father, Alex can be very intense and has been known to make the fresh meat distraught emotionally. His CO once said, "He'd be one helluva Drill Sergeant.", after seeing him bark out on a few privates that were not taking a combat simulation seriously.
History:
Alpha Centuari, Arcturus. This is where Alexander Vasquez first learned of oxygen. Birthed by two parents that are primarily of Hispanic descent - Alexander continues on its lineage. From the beginning he was surrounded by the Military and was raised by its standards. His Father, Michael Vasquez, a Star Fury Pilot. His Mother, Rebecca Vasquez, is a doctor for the Military. He has an older brother, Daniel Vasquez, now just another statistic in the war with ARM. He has two younger sisters, Amanda and Valerie Vasquez, who are both currently studying to become Doctors - both inspired by their Mother.
Alex, even from a young age, found the military lifestyle admirable. Watching his Father leave in a dress uniform adorned with medals and ribbons then other days returning home in his flight suit. Alex wanted to be apart of that. So while in school he joined the JROTC. On the side, until he was Eighteen, he kept himself busy with JROTC and Athletics. Alex had a good life growing up, to say the least.
Finally Eighteen Years old. Alexander Vasquez enlisted - he was first prompted to join the ranks of the commissioned officers, however it was his desire to not be a desk jockey. He entered the Military at its lowest ranks. After a year Alex finally qualified for his Sniper tab. He was a bonafide hunter. Along with his spotter now best friend James Kirkwood. Years later both Alex and James went to the Expeditionary Corps' Boot Camp, by choice and order. This was to enable both Sniper and Spotter to go in with the Drop Corp as either long range counter-measures or to temporarily serve as Designated Marksmen when the conditions are suitable, or necessary for them to do so. More than often, they move in long before the Drop Corp arrives. They are almost always exclusively working alongside the Special Drop Corp. Shoulder to Shoulder - or from afar.
Spotter: James 'Zephyr' Kirkwood. 24 Years old. Approximately Six foot One, two hundred and five pounds. Calm and collected, he is never seen in a hurry. Patience is his biggest virtue. Which may be the reason it makes him one of the best spotters in the military. He can calculate bullet trajectory like it was basic addition and subtraction. He is a good guy, respectable. He doesn't trust people as much as Alex does, and often questions other people and their intentions. He has a twin brother, Glenn. And an older sister, Elizabeth, who is a Pilot.
He carries a M68C9 Assault Rifle, M1 PDW - A23 Recon Armor adorned with Gillie while working as an independent sniper group. While working with the DROP CORP as Designated Marksman, he uses the M50A2 Sniper Weapon System and loses the Gillie.
Sample Roleplay:
The wind blew lightly through the hills, the fields of grain making soft waves in its wake. The golden fields looked just like an ocean, if it were blue - at least. Eight men stood at the side of a road that snaked its way through the valley. Two trucks sat off the road, engines still running. A metallic 'chink' rung out softly as its sound faded into the hollow wind. At least six men were armed. The other two were talking. One held a case. The other had what appeared to be a few pages of documentation.
The two men appeared to be uneasy with one another. "That one." A low voice spoke out as he linked the target to the scope of the M58A2. The rifle's barrel adjusted just slightly. "Putting in corrections now." The voice came again, this time with the soft ticking of the rifles scope adjusting for drop and elevation, wind speed and other necessary changes. It took less than a second. The barrel moved slightly once again, the cross-hairs of the scope resting gently upon its target.
The man with the briefcase began to yell, moving in erratic motions and forcing the bodyguards to raise their weapons at one another. The other man remained calm and appeared to try and talk the man down from his anger. "On you." Both men breathed out slowly, the same on the return. With one last breath a finger traced the trigger of the M58A2. On target, ready to send. The finger brought the trigger back slow and gently.
- I hope it is alright for him to have been trained in the Special/Drop Corp despite being a Sniper. I am figuring it is one of those things of expanding your horizon as in real life. Such as Soldiers being Snipers-Sappers and Ranger's. The more you know the more useful you are. And like I wrote, just in case it wasn't clear - He is a Sniper first of all, but he goes in alongside the Drop Corp when he is needed to be a Designated Marksman. So it is a every so often, not as much, kind of thing. Should also note that James will serve as the other squad's Designated Marksman if it is applicable.
