Albert walked slowly down the now silent hallway. He'd been alone for so long he was used to it...but it was still not a good idea to go wandering around while these things were up. He had no choice, not by his fault, the hunger in his stomach was becoming very painful. This cruise was supposed to be one of his last before he took a short vacation on Hod. He remembered how the word came down from the bridge to lock and seal all the hatches that the only reason he wasn't one of the dead was because he was quite sick that day. Someone luckily locked him inside...and then the screaming started. And it had been silent ever since
He was only 28 years old and this was his first time to be sent on the frontier. Being one of the mechanics on a starship would mean that he wouldn't have to worry about finding a job. But trying to get off the Roosevelt was becoming quite the task. The hallway was illuminated in red light and he could see shadows off in the distance. Almost as if they were alive. His grey worker's uniform was very dirty and his beard was now three months long. His hair was down to his shoulders, and he hated it. Only getting five hours sleep a day watching for the...monsters. He didn't know what else to call them! They had killed everyone on board the entire starship.
The captain instead of following orders to just supply the colony and return for pick up had decided to go through the other warp point in Alpha 01. Which had then taken them to a star system that was void of Terran planets, and had at least six warp points. The Captain had taken one of the warp points to another system when these beings boarded their ship somehow. He didn't know the exact details but unless they had a starship then it was impossible to tell just how they could board.
Coming on the doors of the cafeteria he looked in both directions. Being careful was now all he could do to survive...at least he could still breath and the internal gravity still worked. The exploration ship could survive on it's on for two years before it encountered problems, he could stay on the ship until a rescue party was sent. Opening the doors a nasty smell came out. Looking inside he could see the rotting corpses of people sitting or on the floor, blood was everywhere. Most of the crew from what he could piece together had been in here during the boarding. Walking in he looked at the food that they had, but it had long since spoiled.
Albert then looked towards the kitchen area and started to walk towards it, perhaps it had some food still inside. A few bullet holes were seen across the walls and a white blood if it was blood was seen on the walls but no bodies of the invaders. He hadn't seen them but they were still on the ship for some reason.
As Albert started to find food, one of the monsters roamed outside the hallway. It was over ten feet tall and was a dark brown color. It had a very hard shell, it's small arms reached out only two feet but the claws were so sharp they could tear through steel in a matter of minutes. It's eyes were a dull yellow and it's pointy teeth almost always had saliva dripping down. It roared as it smelled fresh prey to eat.
Albert was eating an apple when he heard a loud roar and looked out into the mess hall. The monster was just outside! Quickly he grabbed what food he could put into a sack he had found and headed towards the air vent he had broken earlier to use in case of an escape. Climbing on top of the table he threw his sack into the vent and started to go into the vent. The beast came into the mess window and was almost able to catch Albert. Albert frantically crawled away from the mess area, the beast howled in defiance at it's prey for leaving and pounded the air duct. He crawled as fast as he could to escape............
