Frame: Myra isn’t the kind of person who would be expected to be a soldier. In fact every single person who ever asked about her job and heard what she does for a living had to ask if she was kidding. And her personality aside, there is one simple reason for this: Myra doesn’t look like a soldier at all. Aside from being very short, even for a girl, she is slim built and probably more suited as a poster girl for recruitment ads than for actual combat.
Myra is quite attractive and while many girls are, this just adds to the fact that she doesn’t fit in among most soldiers. She has no scars, no marks or anything that would give away the dangerous job she has. However Myra has a very hard time hiding her emotions, she basically wear them on the outside and no matter how hard she tries she is too lousy an actress to fool anyone. Perhaps that is why she became a soldier rather than an actress.
History: Born in London into an average middleclass family, Myra was a second child in a small family and the last of her parents’ children. Myra was a curious girl who loved to learn everything she could about anything. Since her mother was unemployed, most of Myra’s curiosity therefore went towards her father who was a doctor. In fact Myra often came by his office after school either to make her homework at his desk or to walk around watching her father doing his job.
Obviously this spurred an early interest in medicine and many people expected that Myra would go to medical school to become a doctor herself. However there was one problem with that. While Myra was a curious girl and strived to learn new things, her mind just didn’t want to cooperate always. Myra is far from stupid, but where her intelligence is mostly strong when it comes to school subjects or factual things, she is quite gullible and naïve when it comes to the real world.
This is also what eventually caused her to drop out of medical school. Obviously this is not something she speak of a lot and certainly not something her parents like to talk about. But Myra dropped her medicine study because a guy she had met offered her a chance to become an actress. Of course he didn’t represent any major business or a studio but rather an amateur group of actors that him and some friends had started and even they couldn’t use Myra once they found her acting talents were none-existing. Though the guy had gotten what he wanted out of it all and that was using the oldest and lamest trick in the book.
Now Myra had to start all over with medical school and at this time she was not really motivated to go back to school. And she was in luck. Ok she wasn’t but that was what the recruitment officer who spotted her in a mall said. She was in luck because she could get her medical degree while earning a proper salary and doing a lot of interesting things. The army was the place for her and he didn’t even have to use his no doubt well planned recruitment speeches before she had signed up.
In the army, Myra received all the skills needed to be a soldier while also working hard to become a doctor in the army. However she never got as far. But now you no doubt ask: what did she manage to do in six years if she never saw any action? Well that is quite simple. After she became a combat medic, Myra was scheduled to be deployed but somehow her CO at the time decided to send someone else in her place. Myra instead ended up as a medical instructor in the basic training for new recruits. This wasn’t at all anything anyone thought about until three more tours had been send out and Myra still hadn’t seen a flicker of real action. Suddenly rumors started flying around the base if she was avoiding deployments by sleeping with her CO. That lead to some teasing and her being approached by some people whom she definitely didn’t like and even though she rejected any rumor, the fact that she tried to be friendly with most people led to the rumors expanding and suddenly she was branded as a slut.
Finally Myra couldn’t take it anymore and requested a transfer and luckily she got it. Though it didn’t really help. In fact the rumors seemed to follow her to her new station and on her first day her new CO gave her a set of deployment orders. This time with the 32nd and those orders were final. They needed a medic and she had been picked.
Sample Roleplay:
(from another site and another character)
The States had proved to be everything she had expected, and more. Although she still hadn’t seen New York City as her initial goal with the trip had been, Los Angeles had been quite the city to be a tourist in. Christine had altered her plans a bit as she was told about the awesome places all across America, so instead of jumping on a plane in LA heading for the Big Apple, she had rented a car and decided that a road trip was so much more the right way to do it. Although advised not to travel alone, Christine had shrugged off any warning thinking that she was quite capable to take care of herself. She was after all a soldier wasn’t she?
It felt great to drive along the long interstate roads with the wind in the hair just knowing how free she was without a plan for everything and how she could go anywhere she wanted. She had just passed a small village where she had pulled over to get some supper. The small diner had been practically empty so the waitress had been very talkative and friendly. She had even suggested Christine a few good places to bunk for the night but with typical good manners, Christine had refused. She figured that she would drive on and just find a place once she started feeling a bit more drowsy.
As it started to get darker, Christine began to regret her choice of not just taking the first inn she had come across in town. It didn’t take long before only the headlights of the car broke the strong darkness and it was a good thing that these roads were straight as far as the eye could see. However Christine sometimes felt like she was born under a lucky star. Within a matter of ten minutes or so, a laminated sign read out the best five letters that Christine could hope for at that moment. Motel. She turned off the road and into the parking lot and found a spot to park her car. This left-side driving was however making parking a little more tricky, but she managed it and was soon after walking across the parking lot headed for the office. It was empty. She looked around in the small office wondering if there was a bell to alert the owner of a visitor.
