In the late 2600's the government was finally victorious in the UCR civil war. Multiple corporations had tried to secede from the government and failed. With most colonies either damaged from warfare or suffering economic hardship, the government decided it was time to manage the corporations once and for all. So the government on 2699 decreed that all the companies of mankind would be under one large umbrella otherwise known as "Human Corp" If a job was not within the government, local government, military or anything owned by the state then he or she had a job with Human Corp. Human Corp owns everything, and makes the weapons that we use. It is also the only manufacturer of the weapons that humanity has. From the food we eat to the clothes we wear, Human Corporation makes those products.
In addition to the company owning all or most of the capital within the U.C.R., it also houses an impressive fleet that is non military. However not all these ships are owned by Human Corp.
