After writing the death certificates, Hobbar then waited for the inevitable to happen. Amberson would arrive. He didn't know why she looked pissed off at him but he decided that he'd better get it over with right now. If he did something wrong then he'd do what he could to fix it. If she was just pissed at him to be pissed off.....then well what could he do then? And Silva ha! Suggesting to get her chocolate was a great crack although he didn't think it'd be appropriate.
Hobbar only liked her as a soldier. If something else happened down the way then he'd let nature take it's course. However what he did expect out of her was some sort of information that he had missed. Did he miss something back at the crash site? Was there some more information that was on the map that she saw but didn't let Hobbar know in time? Hopefully he'd be able to get to the bottom of it soon. If they came out with nothing resolved then it would of been a waste of time and he certainly didn't wish for that to happen.

Yes she was pissed off, with him. He could have gotten her killed. What the hell? Infirmary. Ha. He wished. The woman stayed back only a few moments before she followed him. If he wasn't an officer his ass would be grass. Then again it might be that way any if she got in what she wanted to say. Ha right that wasn't about to happen. The woman was never happy.
The woman stood there silent until addressed. Her thoughts her in her head were far from silent. 'This is me chopping your masculine parts off and feeding them down your throat for stupidity' she kept the thought to herself there were some things that got one kicked out of the drop corp, she was willing to bet that statement right there would have been one of them.
He had better have a decent reason for calling her out when she wanted to get to her bunk and shower at least. The woman was still covered from head to toe in dirt. The last place she wanted to be was in his room. Urgh, what she wouldn't.. The expression on her face hadn't changed, it was one of agitation and anger.

Looking at his watch, he suddenly realized that perhaps he should of as a matter of fact left the door open for the Sergeant. Maybe she was standing outside right now. If she was then he should go and talk to her right away. Getting up, he looked around his office, his side of course was extremley clean. Franks's was well...quite the mess.
Sighing he went over towards the bed that should of already been made and started to fold it very neatly. He then spotted multiple clothes on the ground, he picked them up and just stuffed them inside's Franks's locker. He wasn't going to fold clothes. No that wasn't his job but if Amberson was pissed it might look a little bit better if the entire room was in fact neat. Going towards his desk, he turned off his small computer and put it away.
He shook his head again at what Silva said. It gave him the shivers a little. But his job wasn't to be her friend nor her enemy, just to find out what the hell went wrong near the end of the mission. Opening the door, he saw that Amberson was standing there, armor and all. "Sergeant...let's go for a walk I don't think you'd want to go inside my office." he said and motined for her to start walking. "Sergeant, I realized that near the end of the mission, I some how screwed up. Either we're not on the same page or I'm missing something and I'd like to fix that right now instead of later."

Oh so he wanted to walk, just fan-freaking bloody-tastic. Just what she didn't need right now as sore as she was but whatever, it was better than walking through the woods. The woman wasn't really the type for chit-chat and now he wanted to know what he did wrong. Ha where to begin when it came to that. There was a very disgruntled reply. "With all due respect sir, have you ever BEEN a sniper?"
[/b] she emphasized the word because if he had been a sniper he would know known not to cackle at her. One, snipers try to remain quiet so hollering over a radio. Not a smart move. Two, not trusting her to give him information such as the target when the order was completed. There was a load of more things she could go on about but those were the main two and the only two that she would even speak about but she would take her sweet time doing so. The woman would have glared daggers at him. but she preferred to keep her place on the squad. Amberson was a touchy person as it was. The woman didn't need any help from him. Though he seemed to be offering his fair share. [/blockquote]

= "With all due respect sir, have you ever BEEN a sniper?"
[/b] she emphasized the word because if he had been a sniper he would know known not to cackle at her. [/blockquote][/quote] Hobbar listened closely towards her. He had suspected that he had missed something that Amberson was trying to tell him. And then she asked him a question, also closely implying the word "Been". Nodding his head, he suspected that once he answered her question that she'd rip into him. He continued to walk. "No Sergeant Amberson I have never had the duty of being a sniper. However I have had a encounter with a bad sniper." he sighed " Five years ago, I was in another platoon in the Corps. And I was not a lieutenant I was a Staff Sergeant. We were sent out on a mission to destroy an pirate base that had been located on an asteroid. The navy decided not to destroy the asteroid due to any information that we might uncover there." "Shortly after securing the drop zone we headed towards a ridge that had a good over watch towards the base. Our sniper Conner was set up with his spotter on that ridge. He was told to cover our platoon while we ran across open ground with very little cover. The rest of the company landed on other areas of the asteroid but had surrounded the base, only meeting little resistance. Lieutenant Damen had requested for Starfury support but was denied. Something just didn't feel right. Going across open ground was one thing but with little support from only our sniper was another.""Captain Mache gave the order to assault, Lieutenant Damen had requested from the Captain to see if we could find another way perhaps there was an alternate route, or if we could use APC's. He was once again denied. Lieutenant Damen didn't like the idea of going without support either but we had our orders. At a determined time we set out across the field. And then that's when the machine guns around the base started to open up. My platoon started to loose it's members. Slowly we ran as fast as we could in a zero gravity environment. The machine gun continued to fire at us. Our sniper never shot once towards the machine gun nest. Only seven of my people made it to the nest before we took it out with a grenade. A few hours after the incident, Lieutenant Damen and I went towards the ridge where our Sniper was. Do you know why he didn't fire Amberson?" he said looking at her.

Stephanie listened. The only way a sniper would not... would be... Either that or just didn't care enough. If the man was alive and working with her, then she was personally shred every living bone in his body for stupidity. "If its because his position was given away by a radio, then I don't need to wonder, Sir."
[/b] she snapped. He might have lost most of his team but to be the only one who got out alive? Right. Well there was nothing that could compare to that blast. The woman still had shoulder issues from it, the tendons had been permanently damaged. He could say quite the story when he wanted to but she remained calm in the face of everything he was throwing at her. The woman was almost void to emotions these days. Closed off to her team and everyone else. It was safer that way, safer than being vulnerable and she did her job, she focused on that. That really was the only shell worth cracking. The woman sighed and let him continue, but then she realize after he asked the question that he wasn't going to speak again. Right well the woman had other things on her mind too. Hobbar was the one person who ever shot close to what she had been through when the area she was in. How was she going to explain her past? There was no point but obviously he needed to know she looked at the ground and tried not to say anything biting back any shred of weakness that might show. Finally she spoke. "Several years ago.. I was the only one who DID get out Sir"[/b] she mumbled. [/blockquote]

"If its because his position was given away by a radio, then I don't need to wonder, Sir."[/b] she snapped. He might have lost most of his team but to be the only one who got out alive?
"No Sergeant. The reason he didn't fire a single shot was because his spotter forbid him to fire. The spotter said that the bullet would always go too far to the side of the target. And the Sniper listened to his spotter. Furthermore, when the captain found out about this the spotter and the sniper were taken back to sniper school. Only seven people including me survived that run across the barren field on the asteroid." He stopped and thought for a second. It sounded as if he was trying to brag to her but he wasn't trying to. Well a few more words could fix that problem
"I'm not saying that I can do anything and that I'm god. I only survived because the bullets didn't hit me. Ever since then I've been in contact with my snipers becase I don't want the same thing to ever happen to me or to anyone else. That was why I contact you over the radio about the enemy sniper. I wanted to make sure that target had been taken out."
"Well then I'm sorry for what happened to you. Whatever did happen must of been extremly hard on you both physically and emotionally. It almost seems like we have had similar incidents in our pasts. Your record states that you were wounded on the Earth provience of Bulgaria. If that occurance with you being the lone survivor happened on Earth then I'm sorry for you. I do express my deepest condolences." he said to her. Then he remembered what she said about the radio and it finally hit him. " Your upset about the incident over the radio channel. Sergeant, next time I need to talk to you over the radio I'll remember to use the private channel next time so only you and I can hear each other withouth the rest of the platoon listening in. I'm sorry if I embarssed you and put you and spotter corporal Madden in danger. For future's sake shall I adress you on the battlefield as Arc Angel or your last name?"

She shook her head. "You don't get it Sir. My radio on is a liability to me. That almost gave away my position. If it hadn't been for my chance to take that shot when I did..."
[/b] she informed him brashly. "You have to trust me to do my job, without putting your people at risk, because of some idiot who refused to shoot."[/b] she informed him brashly. Connor was going to get a talking to when she was done here with the Lieutenant. There was nothing more for him to understand. If he continued she would just turn her radio off until contact was made. There was no point in anyone giving away her position. Especially not someone she was supposed to look up to and trust. Then he said something about Bulgaria. "What happened in Bulgaria is no one's business but my own. I do not need pity"[/b] she was agitated, clamming up and lashing out. If she didn't watch her tone she knew she was going to be in even more hot water. She would disobey orders if it would protect the team. He didn't trust her as far as she could be thrown because of some other idiot... oh the woman was not pleased at all. Right now it was taking all her will power not to turn around an get in trouble for assaulting an officer. He had struck a cord with her and was making matters worse. [/blockquote]

Looking at her as she talked, he realized that she was still upset with him. And he also realized that she was extremely sensitive about what happened on the mission She started to raise her voice towards him. That wasn't what he planned to happen, but as usual plans never survive reality. As they continued to walk, he continued to listen to her. She seemed agitated, extremely agitated.
As they continued to walk he wondered why he hadn't been more sensitive. He guessed that she would still be mad at him no matter what he told her. Well that didn't mean that he didn't pity her for what happened to her at Bulgaria. He did feel sorry for what had happened to her, but he did not in any way pity her. Feeling sorry for someone was something natural. He wouldn't try to embarrass her and announce that she had been to Bulgaria. "Alright Sergeant alright." he said to her. He noticed that she was becoming more angry with him. "Listen, I regret what happened last mission. I do now realize how valuable you and your spotter are to our platoon. I placed you in danger by speaking to you on an open channel. I will not do that again. And about Bulgaria." he said.
"I won't speak of it to anyone, I'm the only one in the platoon who has access to background information of everyone. Only me, no one else. Now Captain Jones has personal files on all of us, including me. No one else except me and the higher ups know the background information of the platoon. Staff Sergeant Silva does not have access to these files, nor do any of the flight officers. And I am not trying to pity you on what happened, not at all. I only said that I was sorry and that's it." he was going to say more when three other officers walked towards them, one of the officers got in between Hobbar and Amberson. After she passed between them he continued.
"You don't have to worry anymore. I'll remember what you've told me. I should have trusted you and that was wrong of me for not trusting you. However." he said to her. "What I do expect from you is to perform to the best of your abilities. I will contact you over the radio if I need to and I'll remember to use the private channel between you, me and your spotter. I don't want to-" he was telling her. As he was telling her, none of them saw a figure come down the hall with a large bowel of ice cream piled on top of more ice cream. The tray was large but the person must of put too much ice cream because she couldn't see where she was going. She was on her personal communicator and trying to hold the tray at the same time. She was more concentrated on the conversation at hand then actually paying attention to where she was going.
One of her boot laces was untied and what happened next was one of those classic scenes out of a movie. She tripped right in front of Hobbar and Amberson. As she fell down, the large bowel of ice cream flew onto Amberson's still dirty uniform, hitting her in the chest and all down her waist. Hobbar was hit on his nice clean uniform with melted ice cream, it went all over the front of his shirt. And down his waist. They were both covered in chocolate, strawberry, vanilla ice cream with some kind of hot fudge.

Amberson was just plain grouchy when he said he would contact her. "Correct sir, I will contact you. If something should happen trust me you will know"
[/b] she stated pointedly. Stephanie didn't always listen to Connor and the last thing she needed was for him to open his big mouth when she decided to discuss that with him later. If he did she might end up in the brig for assault on a lower ranked enlistee or something. The woman was about to say something else when she ended up covered in ice cream. It was all she could do not to turn around and hit someone. There was a threatening glare that was sent from her visages. A few comments came to mind but only one shot out of her mouth. "Don't make me shove that communicator where the sun don't shine"[/b] she hissed. There was a part of Stephanie that wanted to shove the woman's face at Hobbar's boot and when she looked at the woman's rank on her shoulder she did. Literally putting the woman's face in the ice cream she had spilled. Amberson didn't really care if she got in trouble or not. Even Stephanie was as stupid to not watch where she was going and run over an officer. He was cleanly dressed, she thankfully was not. If she were him, that woman would be cleaning Hobbar's boots for weeks. Probably Ironing his shirts too, that was just how Stephanie was. Her look almost dared Hobbar to say anything to him. The woman was on the floor as Hobbar and Amberson looked down at her. She had jet black hair tied up in a bun from where the two of them could see. Starting to get up she was almost in horror to what she had done. "I'm sorry..I..I didn't realize you two were there-" Hobbar started to brush off the ice cream that was on his shirt that had been clean. And being OCD when he was outside of his uniform was not that good at all. He always expected to be clean, it was just a part of his nature.
"Get up. Now." Hobbar said to the young lady in a stern voice. As she got up he saw that she was a private...and in the Army, not the Corps. What the hell was going on? He spotted her name. "Private Durand, can you please explain to me why you came through the Drop Corps Officer's area?" he said. Looking at him with a sad look on her face. "Uh yes, I came from the mess hall and decided to get some ice cream for myself. I decided to take the short cut that this hallway provides to my bunk room. I was going to my bunk to rest. I didn't see you or your girlfriend here." she said. Hobbar got even more upset now, why did she assume that Amberson was his girlfriend? Just because two members of the opposite sex were talking to one another were didn't mean that they were going out.
"Private Durand, you need to remind yourself that when you are walking that you always pay attention to your surroundings? What if I was a higher officer, how would he or she examine this situation. And don't assume that Sergeant Amberson is my girlfriend. She is a member of my platoon and we were just going over some things that occurred in the last mission. Private Durand, who is your platoon leader?" he asked her. "I'm sorry again Lieutenant, I was talking to my wife she just had our kid and-" but Hobbar put his hand up. "I asked you private Durand who your platoon leader was." She sighed. "My platoon leader is Lieutenant Chouse." she said.
"Good. I'll report this incident to Lieutenant Chouse. If you were in my platoon and did this to me and the good sergeant then you would have lots of work to do. Get on out of my sight before I decide something worse is in order." he said to her.
"Lieutenant, Sergeant." she said and picked up the bowel and tray. Walking away, she didn't even bother to grab her napkins to wipe off Amberson and Hobbar. As she started to walk away. "Sometimes I wished I had taken a different line of work." he said as he looked in her direction. Shaking his head. He then turned his attention towards Amberson again. "She should of really looked where she was going. So Sergeant, is there anything else that needs to be discussed?" he asked her.

Stephanie blinked when the woman said she had a wife. That was about the only movement that wasn't glaring daggers at the private. She was silent while they talked. The sergeant was very disgruntled and upset, but she said nothing. It wasn't like Amberson to say much. Her hand only released from the back of Durand's neck when Hobbar told her to get up. Her eyes rolled showing her displeasure. Watching her lick ice cream of a senior officers boot would have been funny. It wasn't like his boots didn't need to be cleaned anyway. Something she would simply refuse if he asked. It wasn't her fault. In fact she thought Durand should do it.
There was a small snicker from Stephanie's direction as she thought about Chouse finding out. Granted Stephanie did everything possible to stay out of trouble and always walked a fine line but at least she didn't have to put up with a person like Chouse. Hobbar was bad enough that she had to put up with, she couldn't imagine a snarkier man than Chouse now that she thought of it. Snarky was more a feminine word though. Jerk maybe... no no not strong enough. Either way the thought was more than pleasing to Stephanie.
Then came calling her Hobbars girlfriend. Stephanie snorted loudly. Not only was that probably against every drop corp code, it was also mildly insulting. Hobbar didn't trust her and she didn't trust him so that would make a relationship work how? Puh-lease the woman was having a discussion with her platoon leader nothing more. Some people. Cue snarky glare.

Hobbar noticed that Amberson for some reason didn't say that much. As a matter of fact, she didn't seem that upset. That bothered him a little bit, how was he supposed to tell if she was ok with something or upset by it? It wasn't as if he could read her mind...that was unless you were a psychic, which didn't exist except for in the movies. It really upset him when that private stated that Amberson was his girlfriend, there were a few rules against that. Oh sure if you wanted to go out with a person in your platoon it would stay secret for a while, unless someone of higher rank said something then you could continue. He'd never known anyone that had gone out with someone in their own platoon.
Besides, what did Amberson and him have in common? Absolutely nothing, except for being in the same platoon together. Now if someone threatened her on the battlefield that was a different matter, her or anyone else on the battlefield he would do anything to protect them. But just her? She was another trooper nothing more. He had to learn the hard way of listening to her and she was right. Staff Sergeant Silva had been in fact wrong on this one...neither of them had anything in common with each other.
What he did notice about Amberson was when Private Durand had said that she had a wife. Having two people of the same sex wasn't as uncommon as it had been in the past, in fact nearly forty percent of most people in the Republic were either gay or lesbian. The other sixty were straight. It had become more welcoming in the late 21st century, there were still a few hold outs to it though as there were always people who disliked another person for whatever reason or another. Now the new issue was going out with a person of similar ethnic lines then you were. If you were a Asian dating another Asian then it was looked down upon because people would ask questions to find out if you were a racist. Why weren't you trying to date outside your ethnic line?
Hobbar had only had three previous girlfriends, two had been white while the other had been of middle eastern descent. He was not a racist by any means, no to him everyone was equal. What did bother him though were people who judged you by who you were dating at the time. That really got on his nerves, it should be between those two people and nothing more. There were more interracial couples but there were still some people of the same ethnicity who married and had kids.
His parents were both white, but they weren't racist at all. He decided it'd probably be better for the intellectuals of society to decide who should marry whom. But it always came down to two people connecting regardless of gender or ethnic group. It was also normal for married people to have a kid or kids.
"Sergeant Amberson, is there anything else that we need to discuss?" he asked her again.

Stephanie grew up in her own little world of what was right and wrong and to listen to a woman talk about another woman was just strange to her. Not to mention just odd since Amberson never understood that too much. Shaking her head towards the events of what had just happened, she hadn't heard Hobbar's question the first time. Well she did perhaps but it went unnoticed or ignored. Well she wasn't going to get out of answering it now was she?
"No Sir"
[/b] she stated. That was kind of the truth, she hadn't really gotten through to him, but at least she wasn't in trouble that she knew of. The woman just wanted to get cleaned up. Now she was dirty and covered in ice cream. In her opinion, Hobbar was being nice to the woman. Stephanie would have let her have it more so than she did just shoving the woman's face into his boot. Well at least she hadn't gotten in trouble for that little stunt. Maybe Hobbar was as upset as she was about the mess? Well she didn't care and she wasn't about to ask. [/blockquote]

Hobbar nodded at her. "Good, if you have any more questions then you know where to find me." he told her and started to walk away. He had hoped that whatever issue was there had been in fact solved. If it wasn't solved after him talking to her just now then he probably didn't know what the problem was. He'd make damn sure to use a private channel instead of using an open channel the next time they were on mission together.
He still wanted to change as fast as possible though, the ice cream was beginning to drip down his shirt. Opening his office door, he changed into fresh clean clothes. He then took the dirty ones and put them into the clothes hamper. It was Franks duty this week to take the laundry anyways. He walked outside and decided that maybe it'd be time to go to the simulation room. He hadn't been out of combat for forty five minutes but for some strange reason he wanted to go into a simulation. He felt his stomach growl, well that could wait. Had Amberson made him want to practice combat? If she did then she never made it known to him. He was hoping that they could get past this bump in the road and move on.
